"At the symposium, I presented data on an optimised polychromatic flow cytometry panel for the identification of monocyte/macrophage populations from peripheral blood, as well as EPC population enumeration. The work I have done shows that the vendor recommended dose is often too high for optimal resolution of our markers of interest, and that by using approximately half the dose in most instances, it is possible to more accurately distinguish markers of interest, as well as reduce the transmission of excess fluorescence into other filter channels. In future, I hope to build on this panel to further characterise our populations of interest, and apply our current panel to diabetic patient blood"
