Reinhold gave a plenary lecture entitled What is new in our understanding of the pathogenesis of early and late diabetic retinopathy?at the 8th EURETINA meeting, organised by the European Society of Retina Specialists in Budapest the 16th February 2018.

Pietro will be presenting at the International Ophthalmology Meeting ARVO 2018 (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology) in Honolulu, Hawaii from April 29 to May 3.

VISITS TO THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS IN IRELAND AND NUI GALWAY
Christina, Jasenka, Judith, and Reinhold visited RCSI in Dublin on Feb 28th to discuss potential collaborative research. Thank you to Roger, Ingmar, and Jamie for the arrangements and very productive day. We are looking forward to working with scientists from RCSI.
Sarah visited NUIG in Galway from Feb 11th to 14th to meet and learn from Tim O’Brien’s lab.

CEM EVENTS
Well done to Christina and Varun for their oral presentations, and to Joana for getting a poster award at the CEM Postdoctoral Symposium (Jan 26th).
Edoardo helped showcasing eye research to the general public at the NI Science Festival (Feb 17th).
PROF SIR IAN WILMUT VISIT TO QUB BELFAST
Prof Sir Ian Wilmut received the Barcroft Medal at Queen's University Belfast for his outstanding contribution to Research in Embryology, Stem Cell Biology, and Regenerative Medicine. Prof Wilmut gave a plenary lecture entitled "From Dolly the sheep to treatment of human disease". The Barcroft Medal Lecture was organised by Reinhold, Derek, and Neil.
